Recently, I ran a poll in my singles community.
The question was simple:
If someone gave you £2,000 cash today, what would you spend it on?
The answers included:
By far the most popular answer was a holiday.
At first, this didn’t surprise me.
After all, who doesn’t love the idea of escaping everyday life, relaxing in the sunshine and creating memories with friends or family?
But the results did get me thinking.
Why do so many people find it easier to invest in a two-week holiday than in finding a life partner?
A £2,000 holiday might give you:
All of which are incredibly valuable.
But when the holiday is over, life returns to normal.
The memories remain, but the experience itself is relatively short-lived. We all know that after a morning back at work the holiday feels long forgotten!
Now compare that to finding the right relationship.
A loving partner can bring:
The value of that relationship can last for years, decades or even a lifetime.
As a professional matchmaker, I often hear concerns about the cost of matchmaking.
People naturally compare it to other purchases.
But I think that’s because we’re looking at the wrong comparison.
The question isn’t:
“How much does matchmaking cost?”
The better question is:
“What is the cost of staying stuck?”
Many people spend years navigating dating apps, disappointing dates and introductions that lead nowhere.
Not only does this consume an enormous amount of time and energy, but it can also affects confidence, optimism and outlook.
One of the most interesting findings from the poll was that relatively few people (just 6%) chose “investing in yourself.”
Yet when I look at the happiest, most fulfilled people I know, one thing they have in common is that they are willing to invest in the areas of life that matter most.
Their health.
Their career.
Their personal growth.
Their relationships.
Finding the right partner isn’t just about dating.
It’s about investing in your future happiness.
Only you can answer that question. Is it something that you have thought about?
But here’s another question to consider.
If there was a way to guarantee you would meet your future husband, wife or life partner, what would that be worth to you?
£2,000?
£5,000?
£10,000?
More?
Most people instinctively know that the right relationship is one of the most valuable things they will ever have.
Yet many continue to leave it entirely to chance.
When you break it down, a six-month matchmaking membership isn’t really about paying for introductions.
It’s about investing in the possibility of creating the life you want.
A life where Sunday mornings are shared.
Where holidays are taken together.
Where there is someone beside you to experience both the ordinary and extraordinary moments.
And whilst no reputable matchmaker can promise you’ll meet “the one”, they can help you approach finding love in a more intentional, focused and supported way.
Perhaps the real question isn’t whether you can afford to invest in finding a meaningful relationship.
Maybe it’s whether you can afford not to…
